Other Special Needs: Raised Print Products For Enhanced Learning
Tactile Vision Inc. is now developing a new line of products which are intended for use by many Children with various disabilities. Tactile Vision Inc. has been producing materials for the Visually Impaired for a number of years. Our printing technique was specifically developed to provide an efficient and economic method of producing raised print images of the graphic content which is now so prevalent in printed materials.
All materials in the New Product Line are produced with this raised printing technique. All print letters and numbers are raised and can be touched as well as seen. All images are shown by raised lines and textures.
The raised line letters and images provide tactile input which enhances learning. The tactile stimulation encourages focus on the task at hand and increases attention time span. Greater attention to a task often decreases awareness of other external stimulation. Yet those who crave certain types of sensory input are satisfied by positive stimulation.
Products including raised letters, numbers and lines have been found useful in the development of fine motor skills. The use of print materials which stimulate the tactile sense improves success in the learning situation and in turn builds positive self-esteem.
